Abstract: Abstract Disclosed is an intraoral scan-registration apparatus for a maxillary edentulous arch. The apparatus comprises marker-support islands arranged along an arch- shaped path, each marker-support island comprising a rigid body and at least one fiducial marker. Compliant bridge links extend between adjacent marker-support islands and are joined to spatially separated seats of each adjacent marker-support island. Open windows are bounded by the marker-support islands and the compliant bridge links. Adjacent marker-support islands comprise first and second abutment faces positioned on opposite sides of a compliant bridge link. The abutment faces remain separated through a permitted angular range and engage at an end of the permitted angular range. The marker-support islands provide rigid local support for the fiducial markers, while the compliant bridge links permit controlled angular adaptation along the arch-shaped path.
