MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647091658 A) filed by Koninklijke Philips N. V. on July 28, 2026, for Intravacular Measurement Of Blood Oxygen Saturation.
Inventors include Mueller, Manfred; Babic, Drazenko; and Lucassen, Gerhardus Wilhelmus.
The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: An endovascular sensing wire for determining blood oxygen saturation in an intravascular region distal to an occlusion in a vascular system is provided. The sensing wire comprising an elongated body with a diameter less than 0,018 inches, preferably 0,014 inches, an optical fiber (310) for transmitting broadband light and a cavity (460) distal to optical fiber, the cavity (460) provided with at least one opening (430) arranged such that, in use, blood from the intravascular region can flow into the cavity (460) and a radiopaque coil and a tip distal to the cavity (460). The interface between the optical fiber (310) and the cavity (460) is configured to directly optically couple the optical fiber (310) to the cavity (460) such that, in use, broadband radiation can be transmitted from the optical fiber (310)into the cavity (460) and that the optical data comprises an optical spectrum over one or more wavelength intervals reflected by the blood inside the cavity (460) can be transmitted from the blood in the cavity (460) into the optical fiber.
