MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641048549 A) filed by Hindusthan College Of Engineering And Technology on April 16, 2026, for Investigation Of Mechanical And Tribological Behaviour Of Hybrid Aa2618 Composite Using Stir Casting Method.
Inventors include Dr K Siva; A Sasikumar; Mohamed Ashraf Ali S; Abdul Kaleem N; Kalidoss S; and Jayanthan D.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: This invention relates to the development and analysis of a hybrid metal matrix composite using AA2618 aluminium alloy reinforced with ceramic and solid lubricant particles through the stir casting method. The objective is to improve mechanical properties such as tensile strength, hardness, and wear resistance. Reinforcements like Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Graphite (Gr) are added to enhance strength and reduce friction. The composite is fabricated using controlled stirring, temperature regulation, and uniform particle distribution. The developed material exhibits superior tribological performance compared to base alloy, making it suitable for aerospace and automotive applications.
