Abstract: Water contamination due to untreated greywater discharge poses serious environmental and public health risks, especially in rural and low-resource areas. Conventional water quality testing methods are often expensive, time-consuming, and require laboratory facilities. To address these challenges, this project proposes a low-cost, portable greywater monitoring system for real-time water quality assessment. The system uses multiple sensors to measure key parameters such as pH, turbidity, and total dissolved solids (TDS), which are processed using a microcontroller-based platform. A MATLAB simulation model was developed to validate the system behavior under safe and contaminated conditions, followed by hardware implementation for real-time data acquisition and threshold-based alert generation. The results demonstrate that the proposed system can effectively distinguish between safe and unsafe greywater conditions, enabling early detection and informed decision-making for water reuse and environmental protection. This solution offers a practical, scalable, and cost-effective approach to greywater management suitable for domestic, agricultural, and rural applications.
