MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621079607 A) filed by Symbiosis International Deemed University on June 27, 2026, for Iot-Based Smart Library Seat Occupancy And Environment Monitoring System.
Inventors include Dr. N. A. Natraj; and Dr. Giri G Hallur.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT IOT-BASED SMART LIBRARY SEAT OCCUPANCY AND ENVIRONMENT MONITORING SYSTEM An IoT-based smart library seat occupancy and environment monitoring system (100) comprising pressure pad sensor nodes (110) positioned beneath seat cushions for privacy-preserving occupancy detection using force sensing resistors (112), environmental sensor nodes (120) measuring ambient noise and temperature per library zone, an edge gateway (130) aggregating occupancy and environmental data and performing threshold-based alerting, entrance LED display panels (140) showing real-time zone-wise available seat counts updated within thirty seconds of state changes, a mobile query interface (160) returning available seat locations and environmental status, and a cloud platform (150) providing historical data storage (152), a user-facing dashboard (154), and remote configuration (156). The system (100) eliminates camera-based monitoring privacy concerns while providing real-time seat availability visibility to reduce student search time during peak occupancy periods. [
