Abstract: The present system relates to an IoT-Based Smart Surveillance System with Real-Time Video Analytics and Adaptive Alert Mechanism for intelligent monitoring and automated threat detection in smart environments. The system comprises IoT-enabled surveillance cameras, environmental sensors, an edge computing module, a Dynamic Multi-Modal Feature Fusion (DMFF) module, an Adaptive Hybrid Video Analytics Engine (AHVAE), a Confidence-Weighted Threat Assessment (CWTA) module, an Adaptive Alert Generation Mechanism (AAGM), and a cloud synchronization module. The system acquires real-time surveillance data from heterogeneous IoT devices, preprocesses the data at edge nodes, extracts and dynamically fuses visual, motion, environmental, and contextual features, and analyzes the fused data using hybrid machine learning and deep learning models for object detection, activity recognition, behavioral anomaly detection, and threat classification. A confidence-weighted threat score is generated to prioritize alerts, which are automatically communicated to authorized personnel or emergency response systems through adaptive notification mechanisms. The cloud module enables secure data storage, model synchronization, and continuous learning to improve surveillance performance over time. The proposed invention provides enhanced detection accuracy, reduced false alarms, low-latency edge intelligence, scalable deployment, and explainable decision support, making it suitable for applications in smart cities, transportation systems, industrial facilities, healthcare institutions, educational campuses, commercial establishments, and other critical infrastructure.
