MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621079609 A) filed by Symbiosis International Deemed University on June 27, 2026, for Iot-Based Wearable Fall Detection And Emergency Alert System For Elderly Care.

Inventors include Dr. N. A. Natraj; and Dr. Sujata Joshi.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT IoT-BASED WEARABLE FALL DETECTION AND EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM FOR ELDERLY CARE An IoT-based wearable fall detection and emergency alert system (100) for elderly individuals comprising a wearable sensor module (110) with a tri-axial accelerometer (112), a barometric pressure sensor (114), a GPS receiver module (116), and an audio output unit (118), a microcontroller unit (120) executing a fall classification algorithm module (122) that confirms fall events upon concurrent satisfaction of acceleration impact magnitude, post-impact horizontal posture angle, and barometric altitude displacement criteria within a configurable time window. Upon confirmed fall without acknowledgement of an audible check-in prompt within a timeout period, GPS-tagged emergency alerts are dispatched through a communication module (130) to a cloud care platform (150) which sends multi-channel notifications to registered caregivers via a caregiver mobile application (160). The multi-parameter confirmation algorithm reduces false positive alerts characteristic of single-sensor wearable fall detection devices. [
