Abstract: The present invention discloses an Internet of Things (IoT)-based wearable health and safety monitoring system for use in underground and confined environments. The system comprises a vest-mounted processing unit and a wrist-mounted physiological monitoring unit configured to acquire, process, and transmit real-time data relating to worker location, physiological condition, and environmental parameters. A multi-sensor fusion framework integrates Ultra-Wideband (UWB)-based positioning, barometric sensing, and inertial measurement for accurate three-dimensional localization. The system further includes environmental sensors, a self-diagnostic module, and a multi-layer communication framework for local and remote monitoring. An alert generation mechanism provides real-time notifications upon detection of abnormal conditions or system faults. Additionally, a data logging module enables storage of operational data for post-incident analysis. The invention provides a unified, reliable, and fail-safe safety monitoring solution for high-risk industrial environments.
