Abstract: The present invention/innovation relates to a smart access control system that provides enhanced security for door locking mechanisms for automobiles, using an Internet of Things (IoT) based two-factor authentication method. The system integrates a Wi-Fi enabled microcontroller with a cloud database and a mobile application to ensure secure and controlled door access. In the proposed system, a physical trigger such as a push button is used as the first authentication factor. When the button is pressed, the microcontroller sends an unlock request to a cloud-based database through a wireless network. The request is then received by a mobile application connected to the same database. The authorized user can approve or deny the unlock request through the mobile application, which acts as the second authentication factor.Upon receiving approval from the mobile application, the microcontroller activates a servo motor that controls the vehicle door locking mechanism and indicates the unlocked state through visual indicators such as LEDs. If the request is denied or no approval is received, the door remains in the locked state. The system continuously monitors the database to synchronize the status of the door lock in real time. The proposed invention improves the security of traditional keyless entry systems by combining a physical access trigger with remote authorization through cloud communication. This dual verification approach reduces the risk of unauthorized access and enhances reliability in smart home and vehicle security applications.
