Abstract: ABSTRACT The emergence of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms has become a major global health concern, increasing the need to discover new antimicrobial agents. Soil is a rich source of diverse microorganisms, many of which produce antibiotics as secondary metabolites to inhibit the growth of competing microbes. Therefore, soil serves as an important natural resource for the isolation of potential antibiotic-producing microorganisms. In this project, soil samples are collected from different locations and processed using me seriai. ciflution tecnnique. me alarm° samples are cutturea on setective meow TO isolate distinct microbial colonies. The isolates are then screened for antibiotic production by testing their ability to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria such as Escherichia cc Ii, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis. Microorganisms showing clear zones of inhibition are considered potential antibiotic producers. These isolates are further identified based on their colony morphology, Gram staining reaction, and microscopic characteristics. Such identification helps in recognizing possible antibiotic-producing genera, including Streptomyces and Bacillus. The study demonstrates that soil contains valuable microorganisms with significant antimicrobial potential. The isolation and identification of these microorganisms contribute to the search for new antibiotics and support research aimed at combating antimicrobial resistance. This project also provides practical knowledge of microbiological isolation, screening, and identification techniques used in biotechnology and pharmaceutical research.
