MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611110320 A) filed by Sharda University on September 14, 2026, for Journey-Aware Passenger–seat Digital Twin System For Adaptive Seat Allocation In Multi-Stop Bus Transportation.
Inventors include Dr. Anjum Mohd Aslam; and Dr. Neetu Faujdar.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: A smart bus passenger-seat management system (100) is disclosed for adaptive seat allocation in multi-stop bus transportation. The system (100) comprises a passenger authentication module (106), physical seat occupancy sensors (110), route and journey database (108), Journey-Aware Passenger–Seat Digital Twin (114), segment- wise seat allocation engine (116), synchronization engine (118), conflict prediction engine (120), adaptive reallocation engine (122), and onboard edge computing unit (126). The segment-wise seat allocation engine (116) associates a passenger reservation with a boarding segment and a destination segment and allocates a physical seat (112) for a corresponding journey segment interval. The synchronization engine (118) compares an actual occupancy state (224) with an expected occupancy state (220) and updates a digital seat state (226). The conflict prediction engine (120) determines a predicted future conflict (406), and the adaptive reallocation engine (122) determines an alternative physical seat (124) and reallocates the passenger.
