MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541010176 A) filed by Kalakshetra Foundation on February 07, 2025, for Kalakshetra Yellow Benaras Border Saree.
Inventor includes Kalakshetra Foundation.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: The saree is 5.5 meters length and 50 inches width. The warp and weft used is yellow. The body is kept simple and plain while the border is grand with designs. Border: The border is 4 inches, with Manga ¾ inches, Banaras 2 inches, and Muttu design with green warp line highlight the border. Thalappu : The thalappu of the saree is 23 inches. The thalappu highlight is a band of Yanai Kan design of 8.5 inches in the center; Vel ambu and Vanki design on eithers sides of the thalappu. The Muttu seer and green lines are also added on either sides with four lines each side of the Yanai kan design. The saree also has an inside thalappu in 15 inches with simple band of green lines.
