Abstract: The Laser Path Fitness Tracker of RTOS ( Real-Time Operating System) is a new fitness tracking platform intended to effectively monitor the movement of the user with the help of Laser technology and using an RTOS-based microcontroller. As compared to the common fitness trackers that utilize accelerometer or the LED sensor, this system measures user performance indices of speed, distance and accuracy by projecting a laser path on the floor and tracking whether the interruptions or reflections occurred. The RTOS platform supports real-time scheduling performances and is able to simultaneously handle laser sensing, servo motor movement and real-time processing of the data with a high precision and with little latency. This tracker can be used in a gym or when there is an indoor fitness area where agility and coordination skills should be measured more precisely. One has the laser path that keeps the user going on the pre-determined path and any deviations or laps together with time are logged. Its edifice focuses on minimal mechanical use and maximum sensor interactions. It employs Arduino/like boards capable of RTOS and hardware interfaces to IR or photodiode based interruption detectors, to sense interruptions in realtime. The system can be scaled and configured so that the trainers could define various fitness patterns. Also, its compact dimension, low energy consumption, and its modularity allows its usage in smart gyms or rehabilitation centers.
