Abstract: Disclosed to a lineman protection system and method thereof for enhancing personnel safety during electrical power line maintenance operations. The proposed system integrates RFID-based dual authentication, smart glove technology, LoRa wireless communication, and IoT-enabled monitoring to prevent accidental energization of power lines during maintenance activities. The system comprises RFID-enabled identification modules associated with a lineman and a supervisor, transmitter and receiver units based on ESP32 microcontrollers, a relay-contactor switching mechanism, a wireless communication module, and a monitoring interface. Prior to power isolation or restoration, the identities of both authorized personnel are verified through a dual-authentication protocol, ensuring controlled and secure switching operations. Upon successful authentication, the system safely disconnects the power supply and permits maintenance activities under protected conditions. Unauthorized access attempts trigger audible alerts and prevent switching actions. The LoRa communication module enables reliable long-range communication between control stations and field personnel, while the IoT platform facilitates real-time monitoring, event logging, and operational supervision through a remote application. The proposed system minimizes human error, enhances accountability, and improves safety compliance in electrical maintenance environments. By combining embedded intelligence, secure authentication, wireless communication, and remote monitoring capabilities, the invention provides a cost-effective and reliable solution for reducing maintenance-related electrical accidents and ensuring safe power system operation.
