MUMBAI, India, Oct. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611114863 A) filed by Chandigarh University on September 25, 2026, for Load-Adaptive Reconfigurable Cargo Body System For Commercial Trucks.

Inventors include Ankit Kumar; and Mohit Singh Bhadoria.

The application for the patent was published on October 23, 2026, under issue no. 43/2026.

Abstract: The invention relates to commercial truck cargo-body structures and provides a load-adaptive reconfigurable cargo body system having a main cargo body (101), movable cargo sections (102), guide or supporting mechanism (103), actuation mechanism (104), load-sensing arrangement, control unit, position sensors (106), locking and securing mechanism, safety interlock system (105), operator control interface, and power supply. The control unit selects compact, intermediate or expanded configurations according to cargo-related information and/or a selected cargo requirement, verifies safety conditions, actuates the movable sections, verifies position feedback, and secures the selected configuration. The arrangement reduces effective cargo-body length when additional cargo space is unnecessary and provides increased cargo space when required, while controlling unintended movement.
