MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611109305 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi; and The University Of Queensland on September 11, 2026, for Loading Fixture For Unified Compression-Tension Testing Of Quasi-Brittle Materials.
Inventors include Matsagar, Vasant; Banerjee, Anish; and Lange, David.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: Examples of a loading fixture are described herein. In some examples, the loading fixture includes a first loading platen (08) and a second loading platen (04), each mountable to a push-pull rod of a testing machine. Grips (05) are circumferentially arranged on and attached to each platen, each grip (05) having an inner face contacting an outer surface of a test specimen (03). Connecting bolts (06) pass through longitudinal counterbore clearance holes (16) in the grips (05) and thread into tapped holes (12) in the platens, the hole (16) diameter exceeding the bolt (06) diameter to provide free travel. Penetrating transverse bolts (07) pass through transverse counterbore clearance holes (17) in one grip (05) and thread into tapped holes (18) in an adjacent grip (05) to clamp adjacent grips together. Tightening the transverse bolts (07) moves the grips (05) inward within the free travel, exerting clamping force on the specimen (03). Compressive or tensile load is applied according to the direction of push-pull rod movement.
