Abstract: A locking assembly for a vehicle door includes a frame mounted to the door and a door handle configured to apply an opening force in an unlocked state. A latching transmission mechanism, pivotable parallel to the frame plane, transmits the opening force to a latching mechanism for unlatching in the unlocked state and prevents transmission in the locked state. The assembly further comprises an electrically powered actuation assembly and a mechanical actuation assembly, each operable to establish either the locked or unlocked state. A universal motion transmission mechanism, pivotably mounted about an axis substantially perpendicular to the frame plane, includes multiple actuation points and at least one engaging point contacting the latching transmission mechanism. Actuation of either assembly applies force to the universal motion transmission mechanism to engage or disengage it with the latching transmission mechanism, thereby configuring the door between locked and unlocked states.
