Abstract: The present invention relates to a LoRa-Based Smart Street Light Monitoring and Control System using ESP32 designed for intelligent and energy-efficient urban lighting applications. The system integrates Internet of Things (loT) technology, embedded systems, environmental sensing, and long-range wireless communication to automate street light operation and improve monitoring efficiency. The proposed system comprises transmitter units installed on street light poles and a centralized receiver monitoring station. Each transmitter unit includes an ESP32 microcontroller, Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor, ACS712 current sensor, DHT11 temperature sensor, LoRa communication module, and MOSFET driver circuit. The LDR sensor continuously detects ambient light intensity to automatically switch street lights ON or OFF based on surrounding environmental conditions, thereby reducing unnecessary energy consumption. The ACS712 current sensor continuously monitors load current for detecting abnormal current conditions, while the DHT11 sensor monitors temperature variations to identify overheating conditions. The ESP32 microcontroller processes the sensor data and transmits real-time information through LoRa wireless communication technology, enabling reliable long-range and low-power data transmission suitable for smart city deployments. The receiver module comprises an ESP32 microcontroller, LoRa receiver module, TFT LCD display, buzzer alert mechanism, and push-button interface. The TFT LCD display presents real-time parameters including street light status, current readings, temperature values, and fault conditions. In the event of overcurrent or excessive temperature conditions, the system activates the buzzer alert mechanism and displays warning notifications for immediate fault identification and maintenance response. The proposed invention supports multi-node communication architecture, allowing multiple street light units to communicate simultaneously with a centralized monitoring station. The system provides automatic operation, fault detection, reduced manual intervention, improved reliability, and enhanced energy efficiency. Overall, the proposed LoRa-Based Smart Street Light Monitoring and Control System offers a scalable, cost-effective, and intelligent solution for modern urban infrastructure and smart city street lighting applications.
