Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: LOW-COST SMALL-SCALE DUAL-MODE AUTOMATIC MAKHANA MAKING MACHINE. The present invention relates to an automated system for integrated roasting and popping of makhana, and more specifically, to a low-cost small-scale dual-mode automatic makhana making machine. The machine of present invention enable a more effective grading, roasting, and flavouring process for makhana in an automated and hygienic manner so as to give consistent taste and quality while retaining makhana's own nutritional value. The invention mainly focus on the roasting of fox nut/seeds under controlled temperature in a roasting vessel and transferring the roasted seeds via screw conveyor avoiding much heat loss to a popping mechanism for optimized popping under controlled impact of hammer for its processing as these two are very critical operations. The innovation carries dual significance, that is on one side the health of the people will improve while on the othersupports the agricultural economy. This can be done through a simplified and efficient processing technology, which can further minimize labour intensity and the postharvest losses that are taking place. (Figure 1-D)
