Abstract: The present invention relates to a computer-implemented method for designing geosynthetic retaining structures (100) using a unified Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) and system reliability framework. The method receives geometric and material parameters, generates random samples via Monte Carlo simulation to account for soil variability, computes factored loads and resistances for sliding (112), overturning (113), bearing capacity (114), rupture (115), and pullout (116) failure modes, and iteratively verifies LRFD criteria. Upon compliance, individual failure probabilities are quantified and integrated using a series-system reliability formulation to compute an overall system reliability index (110). The final design is output only when both deterministic LRFD and system-level reliability requirements are simultaneously satisfied. The method improves accuracy, robustness, and computational efficiency of structural safety assessment. (
