MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411093546 A) filed by Lovely Professional University on November 29, 2024, for Machining System For Carbide Inserts With Trihexa Nano Scale Patterns.

Inventors include Dr. Swastik Pradhan; and Dr. Rahul Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a machining system (100), including a cutting tool (110) configured with a cutting surface incorporating nanoscale patterns designed to reduce friction, enhance wear resistance, and improve chip flow. Embodiments may also include a chip evacuation mechanism (120) integrated into the cutting tool (110), including directional grooves (122) or channels optimized to prevent chip recirculation and built-up edge formation, while facilitating smooth removal of chips from the cutting zone. Embodiments may also include a cooling or lubrication system (130) operatively connected to the cutting tool (110). In some embodiments, the system provides high-efficiency thermal management through coolant delivery pathways designed to reduce heat concentration at the cutting interface. Embodiments may also include a vibration-damping mechanism (140) configured within the tool holder or tool body to reduce chatter during high-speed or high-force machining operations.
