Abstract: ABSTRACT MATERIAL INFEED SYSTEM FOR A SHREDDER The present disclosure relates to material handling equipment for shredding systems. The material infeed system includes an infeed conveyor (10) having a discharge end, an infeed hopper (14) having an infeed hopper inlet edge (22) and an infeed hopper outlet edge (24) seated on a cutting chamber (16), and a connecting chute (12) having a connecting chute inlet edge (26) placed against the discharge end of the infeed conveyor (10) and a connecting chute outlet edge (28) abutting the infeed hopper inlet edge (22) to form a closed chamber between the infeed conveyor (10) and the infeed hopper (14). The connecting chute inlet edge (26) comprises a top diagonal edge (26A), a middle diagonal edge (26B), and a bottom vertical edge (26C) configured to follow the outline of the discharge end of the infeed conveyor (10). The connecting chute outlet edge (28) is positioned at a chute reference angle equal to a hopper reference angle ? of the infeed hopper inlet edge (22). The cutting chamber (16) and infeed hopper (14) pivot together about a cutting chamber hinge (18) while the connecting chute (12) remains stationary, enabling maintenance access without repositioning the infeed conveyor (10) or disconnecting dust extraction ducting. The system is applicable to processing preshredded tires, refuse-derived fuel, copper wires, and nonferrous metals. Fig. 1
