Abstract: ABSTRACT MECHANICAL DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE-BASED GAS PIPELINE FAULT DETECTION AND AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF SYSTEM The present invention relates to a mechanical fault detection and safety isolation system for gas pipelines. More particularly, the invention discloses a differential pressure-operated mechanical system configured to detect leakage, blockage, corrosion, scaling, or abnormal flow conditions in gas pipelines without utilizing electronic sensors, SCADA systems, or external power sources. The system comprises pressure tapping devices, a diaphragm chamber, a mechanical linkage assembly, a spring-loaded shut-off valve, and a visual fault indicator configured to automatically isolate faulty pipeline sections upon detection of pressure imbalance. The invention operates on the principle of differential pressure between inlet and outlet sections of a pipeline, wherein diaphragm displacement actuates the shut-off mechanism and fault indication system. The disclosed invention provides a reliable, low-cost, maintenance-friendly, and power-independent safety solution suitable for underground gas distribution systems, industrial gas supply networks, laboratory gas systems, remote pipeline installations, and educational demonstration systems.
