MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621099769 A) filed by General Industrial Controls Private Limited on August 18, 2026, for Mechanical Retention Device For Threaded Shaft.
Inventors include Kulkarni, Rushikesh Chandrakant; Patravali, Vaibhav Sunil; and Pednekar, Dayanand Pundlik.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides radial and axial threaded shaft retention. The device (100) includes a unitary rigid body (102) comprising a bore (102-2) with a set of asymmetric retention profiles (102-2A-2) and a set of crushing ribs (102-2A-4), the crushing ribs (102-2A-4) establishing a set of radial stabilization zones (102-8) across a clearance gap (110). This configuration establishes a mechanical retention interface (102-4) defining axial retention zones (102-6) that limit displacement along an axial direction (106) and a radial direction (112). The radial stabilization zones (102-8) and the axial retention zones (102-6) collectively establish a multi-directional displacement restraint (114) to maintain a threaded shaft (104) in a captive and centred state. Unlike traditional systems requiring secondary hardware, this approach utilizes functional decoupling of geometrically distinct engagement zones to maintain screw captivation when fully loosened while sustaining a substantially unchanged rotational torque, eliminating the need for washers or spacers.
