Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method (300) for managing power-loss events in a wireless network (100). An access point (102) monitors (304) a plurality of subscriber modules and detects (306) a failure in receiving a response from a subscriber module for consecutive uplink polling cycles within a predefined time period. The method (300) identifies (308) an inactivity condition corresponding to the subscriber module and retrieves (310) one or more link performance parameters associated with the subscriber module. The parameters are processed (312) to determine a cause of the inactivity condition using a predefined classifier. The inactivity condition is classified (316) as either a power-loss event or a non-power-loss event. Upon classifying the inactivity condition as a power-loss event, a software-based dying gasp notification is transmitted (318) to a network management entity (106) to perform corrective actions. [
