Abstract: METHOD AND PRIMER COMPOSITION FOR DETECTION OF ROTAVIRUS AND KITS THEREOF ABSTRACT The disclosure provides methods and primer compositions for detecting rotavirus in a sample. The method (100) includes the steps of extracting and purifying (102) ribose nucleic acid (RNA) from a sample followed by conducting reverse transcription (104) or RNA to obtain complementary DNA, amplification (106) using primer pairs specific for VP7 genomic region of rotavirus and performing gel electrophoresis (108) of the amplified product to identify bands of Rotavirus A G-serotypes selected from G1, G2, G3, G4 and G9. The disclosure further discloses a forward primer composition (200) and a kit (300) for detecting rotavirus in a vaccine or an analyte. The method is efficient at rapidly and simultaneously detecting G1, G2, G3, G4 and G9 serotypes of rotavirus A with strong template specificity and demonstrate no cross-reactivity across various serotypes in a single assay.
