MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411099409 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 16, 2024, for Method And System For Active Prediction Of Road Surfaces And Proactive Actuation Of Vehicle Stability System.
Inventors include Veekshith Vishwanath; Vivek Dhoot; Ashwin Balaram Balasundar; and Sooraj Shyama.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: A system (100) for active prediction of road surfaces and proactive actuation of a vehicle stability system comprises receiving sensor data from multiple sensors (104, 106, 108, 110), a controller (112) configured to determine a weight matrix (WT) based on driving conditions, and determine presence of a low friction surface using a decision matrix (DN), wherein the decision matrix (DN) is a product of the weight matrix (WT), and a vector (X) representing the output data from each of sensors. The system (100) further comprises an electronic stability program (ESP) (114) which is actuated based on the detected low friction surface. The ESP actuation involves calculating trajectory data, providing warnings to the driver, and activating vehicle control systems (116) if needed. The system enables improved handling and occupant comfort through early detection and response to low friction surfaces. Fig. 1
