MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631066819 A) filed by Bit Sindri on May 27, 2026, for Method And System For Assigning Spatially Varying Mechanical Properties In Material Extrusion Additive Manufacturing Process.
Inventors include Mukherjee, Sumanta; and Kumar, Prakash.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ASSIGNING SPATIALLY VARYING MECHANICAL PROPERTIES IN MATERIAL EXTRUSION ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING PROCESS Provided are a method (300) and system (100) for assigning spatially varying mechanical properties in a material extrusion additive manufacturing process. The method (300) comprises receiving (302) planar toolpath data (206) comprising G-code representing layer-wise deposition of a component and obtaining (304) a spatial mechanical properties field (208) over a build volume. The method (300) further comprises parsing (306) the planar toolpath data to classify toolpath segments into modifiable and non-modifiable toolpath segments, and projecting (308) the spatial mechanical properties field onto the modifiable toolpath segments to obtain local mechanical descriptors. Thereafter, the method (300) comprises determining (310) waveform parameters using an inverse mapping framework, modifying (312) the planar toolpath data to generate a non-planar toolpath, and generating (314) modified G-code (232) for execution on a material extrusion additive manufacturing apparatus (102) to fabricate a printed component (240) having spatially varying mechanical properties.
