Abstract: A method and system for estimating skeletal age of a subject from radiographic images are disclosed. Radiographic images of anatomical joints are preprocessed to enhance contrast and suppress noise, a region of interest corresponding to an ossification center is identified, and the region is segmented using a hierarchical patch- based process. The segmented image is input to a trained classification model to obtain an age-related classification, from which a skeletal age estimate is output. Figure 1 is the representative figure.
