Abstract: A system (100) for interference mitigation in satellite communication is provided. The system (100) includes a ground station (102), a satellite (104), a transmitter (106), a receiver (108), a processor (110), and a memory (112) storing a catalogue of communication entities (114). The method includes maintaining the catalogue of communication entities (114), assigning a unique scrambling sequence (120) to each communication entity based on an entity identifier (122), generating the scrambling sequence (120), and applying the scrambling sequence (120) to either a synchronization marker alone or a synchronization marker along with data (124) via scrambling circuitry (116) to produce a scrambled synchronization marker (126). The communication signal (128) including the scrambled synchronization marker (126) is transmitted over a communication channel (118). The receiver (108) identifies the communication signal (128) based on the scrambled synchronization marker (126) and decodes the signal using the unique scrambling sequence (120), enabling robust synchronization and soft-combining decoding in the presence of adjacent satellite interference.
