Abstract: The disclosure relates to a system and a method for parking a vehicle on a sidewalk. The method comprises determining a required free space on the sidewalk based on a location of the sidewalk and evaluating a sidewalk free space for each of one or more sidewalk parking spots based at least on one or more sidewalk parameters. The method comprises determining a target parking width based at least on the one or more sidewalk parameters and one or more vehicle parameters. The method comprises assigning a priority to each of the one or more sidewalk parking spots based at least on the sidewalk free space, the target parking width, and the required free space. The method comprises identifying at least one appropriate parking spot among the one or more sidewalk parking spots based on the priority and parking the vehicle based in the at least one appropriate parking spot.
