MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511096375 A) filed by Makemytrip India Private Limited on October 07, 2025, for Method And System For Predicting Confirmation Probability Of Waitlisted Train Ticket.

Inventors include Narasimha Medeme; Saikiran Vajrapu; Aaditya Narayan; and Taru Shri.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: A method and a system for predicting confirmation probability of a waitlisted train ticket are provided. The method receives input data comprising passenger name record context features including waitlist position, train number, quota type, ticket class, booking time, and time to departure. The method accesses historical waitlist movement data comprising time-series sequences for corresponding train and class combinations. Fourier-transformed waitlist features are generated by applying Fast Fourier Transform algorithms to extract frequency domain components representing periodic demand patterns. Velocity features comprising seat fill rate velocity, cancellation velocity, and waitlist position change velocity are determined from real-time booking activity. Aggregated cancellation probability data representing expected seat availability is obtained from a separate machine learning model. A trained machine learning model processes all input features to generate confirmation probability scores. The present method enables dynamic pricing engines to calculate risk-based premiums for guarantee products while providing passengers with reliable waitlist confirmation likelihood information.
