MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647082831 A) filed by Ifp Energies Nouvelles; and Compagnie Gnrale Des Etablissements on July 06, 2026, for Method For Activating A Heterogeneous Catalyst In The Presence Of A Multifunctional Acid Compound.

Inventors include Cadran, Nicolas; and Michau, Mathieu.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for activating a catalyst comprising at least one metal element chosen from the elements of groups 3, 4 and 5 of the periodic table, and an oxide matrix, in particular a catalyst with 3 wt.% tantalum on silica beads, the method comprising: • a) a step of preparing an activation composition comprising at least one multifunctional carboxylic compound (for example lactic acid), such that the activation composition has a carboxylic/metal molar ratio between the number of moles of the at least one multifunctional carboxylic compound and the number of moles of the at least one metal element of the catalyst that is greater than or equal to 2; • b) a step of placing the activation composition in contact with the catalyst, in order to obtain an impregnated intermediate solid; and • c) a step of thermally treating the impregnated intermediate solid, implementing an activation phase at a temperature higher than 100°C and lower than 300°C.
