MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411102354 A) filed by Birla Institute Of Technology & Science Bits, Pilani on December 24, 2024, for Method Of Fabricating An Electrospun Nanostructured Fiber Sensor And System For Detecting Presence Of Metal Ions In A Water Sample.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of fabricating electrospun nanostructured fiber sensor and system for detection of lead ions in a water sample. Electrospun nanostructured fibers are prepared using an electrospun solution. The electrospun solution is made using a base polymer, conducting polymer and metal oxide nanoparticles. The electrospun nanostructured fibers are formed by electrospinning the electrospun solution. A homogeneous solution with electrospun nanostructured fibers, solvent and binders is prepared and deposited on a cleaned glassy carbon electrode, thereby forming an electrospun nanostructured fiber sensor. A system for detecting presence of metal ions in a water sample includes a test module with the electrospun nanostructured sensor for measuring concentration of lead ions in a water sample, an analysis module for analyzing presence of the lead ions in the water sample based on the detected values, and a display module for displaying the detected concentration lead ions in the water sample.
