Abstract: ABSTRACT METHOD OF FABRICATION OF POLYMER INCLUSION MEMBRANES FOR SELECTIVE RECOVERY OF RARE EARTH ELEMENTS This invention relates to a nanocomposite Polymer Inclusion Membrane (PIM) modified with mesoporous cellular foam (MCF-5) silica for the selective recovery of Rare Earth Elements (REEs), particularly Neodymium (Nd), from electronic waste. The membrane matrix comprises PVDF-co-HFP as the base polymer, selected for its superior mechanical strength and chemical resistance compared to conventional PVC and a D2EHPA as liquid carrier for selective transport of Nd ions. Incorporation of 3D interconnected MCF-5 at an optimal loading level improves membrane stability, permeability, and selectivity making the system suitable for sustainable recovery of REEs from secondary resources.
