MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531003806 A) filed by Tata Steel Limited on January 16, 2025, for Method Of Regulating Phosphorus Content In Molten Iron For Production Of Ductile Iron.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method (200) of regulating phosphorus content in molten iron being tapped from a blast furnace (102) for production of ductile iron. The method (200) includes a step of forming a mixture composition comprising in weight percentage (wt.%) of: limestone 40% to 45%; iron ore fines 50% to 60%; and coke 5% to 6%. After mixing, nodulizing the mixture composition in presence of moisture. Further, sintering the nodulized mixture composition to produce a dephosphorizing agent. Furthermore, adding the dephosphorizing agent into the tapped molten iron into a runner (104) of the blast furnace (102). The dephosphorizing agent is configured to regulate the phosphorous content in the tapped molten iron from blast furnace (102) to at least below 0.1% (in wt.%) while producing ductile iron.
