MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611109560 A) filed by G. L. Bajaj Institute Of Technology And Management on September 12, 2026, for Mobile Companion Robot With Environmental Sensing And Diffusion Actuation.
Inventors include Jyotika Dasgupta; Yasha Istwal; and Dr. Harikesh.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed is a domestic companion robot comprising a mobile chassis, left and right drive motors coupled to respective ground-engaging members, an ambient air- quality sensor, a proximity-sensor assembly, and a diffusion unit having a diffusant outlet and an electrically actuated relay. A controller is electrically coupled to the drive motors, air-quality sensor, proximity-sensor assembly, and relay. During operation, the controller supplies pulse-width-modulated drive signals to the drive motors in dependence on proximity measurements, thereby controlling chassis movement relative to obstacles along a travel path. When an air-quality measurement crosses a threshold, the controller changes a state of the relay to energize the diffusion unit and release diffusant through the diffusant outlet into the indoor environment at the location occupied by the mobile chassis.
