Abstract: The Mobile IoT Security Node is a Wi-Fi-enabled mobile surveillance system designed to function as an intelligent remote monitoring platform for indoor environments. Unlike traditional fixed CCTV cameras that suffer from static viewing angles and blind spots, the proposed system integrates mobility, real-time telepresence, and autonomous safety mechanisms into a compact and energy-efficient solution. The system is built around the ESP32-CAM, which handles wireless communication, live video streaming, and embedded control through a web-based interface accessible via smartphones or computers. The robot is constructed using a HiwonderAckermann Intelligent Car Metal Chassis, featuring rear-wheel drive and front-wheel Ackermann steering for smooth, stable, and realistic navigation with reduced noise and mechanical strain. Motor control is achieved using the L298N, while a regulated battery system ensures reliable power delivery. A servo-mounted camera enables 180° horizontal scanning without requiring full chassis movement, improving energy efficiency and enabling discreet monitoring. To enhance operational safety, an ultrasonic sensor-based virtual bumper continuously detects nearby obstacles and automatically overrides user commands to prevent collisions when objects are within a predefined threshold distance. The system primarily operates in Manual Telepresence Mode, allowing real-time remote control and monitoring over a local Wi-Fi network with low latency. By combining IoT connectivity, efficient mechanical design, real-time video streaming, and intelligent obstacle avoidance, theproposedsystemoffersapractical,low-cost,andscalablesolutionformodern indoor surveillance, with future scope for cloud integration, AI-based detection, and autonomous navigation.
