Abstract: ABSTRACT MODULAR ELECTROCHEMICAL SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CO2 MINERALIZATION AND CARBONATE PRODUCTION FROM HYPERSALINE BRINE The present invention relates to an integrated modular electrochemical system and method for capturing and mineralizing carbon dioxide (CO2) using hypersaline brine. The system comprises a bipolar membrane electrolyzer configured to generate sodium hydroxide (NaOH), hydrogen gas (H2), and chlorine gas (Cl2), wherein the generated sodium hydroxide is supplied to a membrane-assisted carbon mineralization reactor for reacting with carbon dioxide to produce sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3). The carbonate products are recoverable in crystalline, solution, or slurry form, while hydrogen and chlorine are recovered as valuable co-products. In certain embodiments, process streams including sodium hydroxide, brine, electrolyte, and carbonate- containing streams are recycled to facilitate closed-loop operation. The system further supports intelligent process control for optimizing carbon dioxide conversion and is configured for modular, renewable-energy-powered, containerized, decentralized, or off-grid deployment, thereby providing an efficient platform for carbon capture, carbon utilization, and carbonate production.
