Abstract: The present invention relates to a modular force-regulated periodontal probe (100) for standardized periodontal assessment. The probe comprises a reusable handle (133), a mechanical force-limiting collar (101), a shaft (102), and an independently replaceable, dimensionally calibrated tip cartridge (103). The tip cartridge (103) comprises a ball tip (104), a tip shank (105), and a base stub (106) removably received within a socket (107) at a distal end of the shaft (102). The mechanical force- limiting collar (101) includes a spring-loaded telescoping arrangement comprising a collar housing (108), an outer sleeve (109), a compression spring (110), a spring seat/internal guide (111), and an inner sleeve (112), and provides tactile indication at a predetermined probing-force threshold. The cartridge (103) may be replaced after predetermined sterilisation cycles or a dimensional quality-control criterion while retaining the reusable handle (133), shaft (102), and force-limiting collar (101) for continued use.
