MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641079265 A) filed by Chandrasekhar Banoth; and Dr. Suchi Tiwari on June 27, 2026, for Modular Multistage Cascade Fermentation System With Adaptive Flow Control And Contamination Isolation For Continuous Bioethanol Production.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a multistage cascade flow fermentation system (100) for continuous production of alcohol and other fermentation products. The system comprises a primary tank (101), a plurality of eight fermentation reactors (104-111) connected in series, a plurality of motor pumps (113-120), Tesla valves (126), an IoT controller (133), a secondary fermentation tank (122), and a centrifugal separator (123). Each fermentation reactor comprises a vessel having a total volume of about 100 liters and a working volume of about 60 liters, and is provided with an agitator drive (112), pH probe (127), dissolved oxygen probe (128), flow/pressure meter (129), temperature probe (130), and carbon dioxide outlet (103). The fermentation medium is sequentially transferred between adjacent reactors through the motor pumps (113-120) at a flow rate of about 2 liters per minute, with a residence period of approximately 6 hours in each reactor. The Tesla valves (126) facilitate isolation between adjacent reactors to minimize contamination. Fermented medium from the final reactor is transferred to the secondary tank (122) and subsequently to the centrifugal separator (123) and distillation unit for alcohol recovery. The IoT controller (133) monitors and controls the fermentation parameters throughout the process.
