Abstract: Disclosed herein is a green and sustainable approach for converting GO to rGO using moringa-derived carbon dots (MCDs). MCDs are employed to reduce graphene oxide under reflux conditions in an inert atmosphere, resulting in the formation of a reduced graphene oxide–moringa carbon dot (rGO–MCD) composite. During reduction, oxygen-containing functional groups are decreased and sp² carbon domains are restored, as confirmed by spectroscopic and structural characterization. The carbon dots become distributed on and intercalated between graphene layers, forming a stable nanocomposite structure. The disclosed method eliminates the need for toxic chemical reducing agents and provides an environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and scalable route for producing graphene-based nanocomposites suitable for electronic, sensing, catalytic, environmental, and energy storage applications.
