MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641084976 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on July 10, 2026, for Multi-Modal Pressure Cooker Whistle Detection And Counting Device.

Inventors include Kanimozhi. G; Subbulekshmi. D; and Vasundra. M. A.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: A whistle detection device (100) for a pressure cooker. The device (100) includes microcontroller unit (MCU) (120), multi-modal sensing unit (102) with pressure sensor (106) and acoustic sensor (110) adjacent to a whistle outlet, signal processing unit (112), validation and counting unit (114), time monitoring and fault detection unit (116), and alert unit (118). The signal processing unit (112) generates a validated whistle signal upon concurrent detection of pressure signals and acoustic signals within a predefined time window. The validation and counting unit (114) increment a whistle count per validated whistle signal. The time monitoring and fault detection unit (116) determines a fault condition upon timing exceeding a predefined range. The MCU (120) activates the alert unit (118) upon whistle count reaching a preset threshold or fault condition.
