MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641079109 A) filed by Ifet College Of Engineering on June 26, 2026, for Multi-Sensor Railway Level Crossing Monitoring And Accident Prevention System.

Inventors include Mrs. S Nithyabharathi; Mr. K Sri Sidtharth; Mr. K Thivakar; Mrs. A Inbavalli; and Mrs. K Kalai Selvi.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: A railway level crossing monitoring and accident prevention system (102) is disclosed. The system (102) comprises a three- dimensional distance sensing unit (104) configured to detect an obstacle object (122) within a railway track crossing zone (118), an imaging unit (106) configured to obtain image information corresponding to the detected obstacle object (122), and a track vibration sensing unit (108) configured to detect vibrations generated by an approaching train (120). A local edge processing unit (110) receives information from the sensing units and cooperates with a sensor fusion unit (112) and an object verification unit (114) to evaluate the presence of the obstacle object (122) and the approaching train (120). An alert generation unit (116) generates a warning signal upon confirmation of a potential collision condition. The system provides multi-sensor verification, reduced false warning events, real-time local processing, and improved operational reliability for railway level crossing safety applications.
