MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611047764 A) filed by Distintix LLP on April 15, 2026, for Multi-Source Regenerative Energy Recovery System For Dual-Battery Electric Vehicles.
Inventors include Hardik Chitkara; and Arnav Bhatia.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: A multi-source regenerative energy recovery system for electric vehicles integrates three physically independent parallel energy recovery sub-systems — an in-wheel gearbox regeneration sub-system (10), an aerodynamic airflow micro-turbine sub-system (20), and a solar energy sub-system (30) — with a dual-battery architecture governed by a threshold-based battery management system (70). The in-wheel gearbox sub-system (10) transmits wheel rotational energy through a gearbox assembly (13) at a speed step-up ratio of 1:5–1:20 to a permanent-magnet generator (15), producing up to 400 W per wheel. The airflow micro-turbine sub-system (20) captures vehicle-induced aerodynamic airflow through bumper-mounted air-intake ducts (21) to drive turbine generators (23) producing up to 200 W per duct; downstream airflow provides simultaneous forced-convection thermal management of the backup battery panel (60) through a cooling channel (24). The solar energy sub-system (30) employs a converging optical element (31) and a cone-shaped concentrator (32) with a geometric concentration ratio of 5–20 to concentrate solar irradiance onto photovoltaic cells (34) conditioned by a solar charge controller (35) with MPPT tracking efficiency not less than 99%. All outputs are aggregated by a power management module (40). A battery management system (70) implements dual-state switching in less than 50 milliseconds between a main battery panel (50) and a backup battery panel (60) with a configurable hysteresis gap of at least 15 percentage points of state of charge between switching thresholds T1 and T2. A control system adaptively manages each sub-system to maximise net energy recovery under real driving conditions.
