MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611008442 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on January 28, 2026, for Multi-Uav Trajectory Control System And Method For Energy- And Aoi- Aware Defense Operations.

Inventors include Pratap, Ajay; Kumari, Shilpi; Rawat, Gaurav; and Gupta, Dev.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a multi-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)–based system (100) and method (200) for managing mission-critical data in defense and mission-critical operational environments. A plurality of Internet of Things Devices (IoTDs) (102) deployed in an obstacle-rich military area are clustered, wherein a Cluster Head aggregates data from cluster members to reduce energy consumption and transmission latency. A Command and Control Center (CCC) (108) dispatches multiple UAVs (106) to collect the aggregated data and relay it to the CCC (108). An objective function is defined to jointly optimize Age of Information (AoI) and energy consumption while incorporating a penalty for obstacle collision. UAV trajectories are dynamically controlled using a multi-agent deep reinforcement learning–based trajectory planning framework, enabling reduced communication distance, safe navigation, and timely data delivery. The disclosed system (100) improve data freshness, energy efficiency, and operational reliability, thereby supporting real-time decision making in defense and mission-critical scenarios.
