Abstract: The present invention relates to a multicomponent herbal composition having a structured carrier phase for controlled release of active constituents. The composition comprises an herbal active phase including one or more plant-derived active constituents selected from herbal extracts, herbal oils, essential oils, plant powders, phytochemical fractions, isolated phytoconstituents, oleoresins, resins, or combinations thereof. The composition further comprises a structured carrier phase comprising natural polymers, hydrocolloids, polysaccharide gums, lipid carriers, waxes, bioadhesive polymers, proteins, emulsifiers, stabilizers, or combinations thereof. The structured carrier phase retains the herbal active constituents within a matrix, gel, emulsion-gel, lipid-polymer network, encapsulated domain, particulate carrier, film-forming structure, or layered structure. The carrier phase controls release by hydration, swelling, diffusion, partitioning, erosion, matrix relaxation, or lipid softening. The composition improves stability, reduces burst release, enhances residence time, and enables sustained delivery of hydrophilic, lipophilic, and volatile herbal constituents for topical, oral, mucosal, cosmetic, wound-care, nutraceutical, or veterinary applications.
