Abstract: MULTILEVEL INVERTER SYSTEM FOR GENERATING IMPROVED OUTPUT VOLTAGE LEVELS AND METHOD THEREOF ABSTRACT A multilevel inverter system (100) for generating improved output voltage levels is disclosed. The system (100) comprising a reduced switch count inverter (102) to receive direct current power and generate switching outputs; a first level doubling network (104) comprises switching devices arranged across a direct current voltage source; a second level doubling network (106) to form a double layered level doubling network arrangement. The system (100) is configured to receive input voltage parameters, determine switching states for operation, activate the switching devices, subsequently activate the switching devices of the second level doubling network (106) to establish cascaded voltage multiplication; generate sequential output voltage levels; and apply generalized pulse width modulation for controlling switching transitions. The system (100) provides a voltage level enhancement mechanism through a reduced switch count architecture. The system (100) generates multiple stepped output voltage levels with reduced switching losses and improved harmonic performance. Claims: 10, Figures: 4 Figure 1A is selected.
