Abstract: The present invention relates to a system (100) of nanoparticle-based oxygen delivery. The system includes oxygen-carrying nanoparticle (102) with a core-shell structure, that having the core (102a) comprises perfluorocarbons capable of dissolving oxygen. oxygen-carrying nanoparticle (102) further having the shell (102b) includes biocompatible polymers. The system includes a surface modification unit (104) on said nanoparticles to enhanced targeting and circulation and a high-pressure oxygen loading chamber (106) for saturating said nanoparticles with oxygen. For local tissue conditions a stimuli-responsive release process (108) is used. And for tracking tissue oxygen levels a real-time monitoring device is used. The system further includes an administration apparatus (112) for controlled delivery of said oxygen-carrying nanoparticles. The invention is applicable in emergency and trauma resuscitation, as well as in hypoxic and ischemic conditions where rapid oxygen support is critical.
