The negative electrode slurry comprises a negative electrode active material and a modifier that coats the surface of the negative electrode active material. The negative electrode active material comprises one or more of hard carbon and graphite coated with hard carbon. The modifier comprises carboxymethyl cellulose salt having a weight-average molecular weight of 20,000-150,000. The negative electrode slurry exhibits a low occurrence degree of gelation and foaming, and can improve the processing performance and the storage performance of the sodium secondary battery.
